Writing is one of the most difficult skills for homeschooling families. Join me for a workshop that will explain why this is and what you can do to help your reluctant writer! Forget outlines and other traditional writing methods. Learn what works for picture and hands-on learners, and why honoring your students’ learning style ensures success. You will see how informational mapping can help students complete reports without writing! Use the techniques learned in this workshop to take the pressure off your students (and you!) and motivate them to become confident and eager to express their ideas and what they have learned.
The notebook is a tool for transformation. It can take you from where you are, to where you want to be. Dreams, goals and ideas can drift away like smoke, but when you write them down, something changes. They suddenly become more real, and you become accountable. The notebook allows you to be more productive, improve relationships and gain insight into yourself. The notebook can even help you lose weight!
In this fun and inspiring workshop you will find guidance and inspiration from the most unexpected source.
You.
Anyone can write a screenplay! All you need is a Big Idea and a compelling journey for the hero.
In this fun and interactive two-part workshop, Hollywood screenwriter Jon Bernstein instructs the students on screenwriting basics: genre, title, world, characters, story, theme and logline.
Whether you are writing a superhero story, action-adventure, suspense-thriller, comedy or drama, all screenplays follow the same rules: the hero goes on a journey in which he or she is tested by facing adversity. By the end of the movie the hero has overcome all the opposition and learned something important about him/herself.
Parents are invited to attend Part Two in which the students pitch their movies. Grab some popcorn and settle in for some fun entertainment. Who knows, you just might be hearing the next big blockbuster!
