Students will become a roller coaster engineer as they work with a team to design and build a model roller coasters. Learn about the physics behind roller coasters and related activities that you can try at home.

When we see stereoscopic 3D movies like Tron, Alice in Wonderland, and The Green Hornet, we’re seeing the results of an idea that started back with Renaissance painters.  Internationally-acclaimed animator Beau Janzen takes you on a journey that spans topics from geometry, the physics of light, art, and the mechanics of our vision.  The end result is an amazing merger of art, math, and science.

With 3D glasses supplied for the talk, Janzen will demonstrate the process filmmakers follow to convert a flat movie into 3D and will show examples of some of his stereoscopic work on The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman ride from Universal Studios Orlando.

This talk is intended to help inspire learners and parents and help give a perspective on how math and science can be the tools for amazing creative endeavors.

The Fair will not be judged; it will be an exhibition.

The Fair will take place inside the hotel. No projects that contain fumes or make a mess will be allowed in the Fair. No dead animal carcasses or human body parts. Using science display boards with pictures of these effects is acceptable. If you have any doubt whether a project will be permitted, please email Gina Chapa.
